Artists for my Self Negotiated Project

Kellas Campbell

Kellas Campbell in a simplistic, minimalist artist who mainly works in black ink and charcoal whilst looking at cats and birds in particular. The simplistic mannerisms of the body and wings creates a 'light as a feather' appeal whilst maintaining the innocence and relationship with nature. With few drawings having hints of colour, this creates another layer to the drawings without overpowering the final finish of simplicity. Using Kellas as an influence, I could take the idea of minimalism to portray the innocence of the mockingbird. By having many different lines, colours or materials the drawing may become over-crowded and 'harsh' to look at; causing the innocence is lost within my work.

Antoine (Antoine Arts)

Antoine Arts is a website consisting of many forms of art media ranging from paintings, to drawings, to photography and sculpture. Focusing on the human body and its form, Antoine Arts captures the raw emotion withing the pieces. Like Kellas, using a minimalist  and mainly monochrome colour scheme in order to portray innocence and vulnerability. Linking to my self-negotiated project, Antoine Art focuses on the human form and how its position alongside colour and material used can create a connection with the artwork and the spectator. Within my work I will start looking towards the human figure and the injustice described within the book. With Antoine as an influence I will begin with materials such as charcoal to build up the underlying tones within the human figure which may help me in the future if I choose to bring colour into my work.

Amy Judd

Based in London, Amy Judd combines women with the use of animals and nature. With none of the women showing there face, this creates a mysterious feel to the pieces of work as well as a sense of hidden beauty. Judd's work interested me on the basis of me questioning who these women were, with their hidden identities none looked exactly the same. This majorly influenced my work as without the women's identities all were equal. Neither were noticeable of a different ethnicity nor class; which is what i am looking for when experimenting with the human human figure. As well as this, the combination of animals and nature inspired me to combine the innocence of the mocking bid and the innocence of those discriminated by in the book.
